If you're looking to increase the performance of your Acura Integra, you've probably looked at many different options. A great way to increase the performance of your Integra is to install a turbo kit. A turbo kit is a great way to increase the performance of your vehicle without requiring it to be in the shop, most are easy to install at home.
A turbo kit is designed to help increase performance by just simply compressing the air going to your Integra engine. With the incoming air to your Integra compressed, more is able to enter the cylinders at a time, producing a more efficient fuel/air burn which leads to more HP. The best thing about a turbo, is it doesn't rob your engine of any energy, unlike a supercharger. The exhaust coming from your Integra engine is routed through the turbo, spinning the turbine/compressor, before it goes out the exhaust pipe. By utilizing the unused energy from your Integra exhaust, you gain even greater performance from your engine then before.
The only down fall of a turbo is that it does require proper operation. As a turbo spins it produces heat from the friction, which can lead to damage to the turbo or worse the Integra engine if you're not careful, however installing an intercooler can help prevent these problems. A turbo also take some time to spin up before you notice an increase in performance, this isn't all bad though, wouldn't want your Integra to take off when you have little traction. Another thing is a turbo needs time to spin down before you shut your Integra engine off. Most manufactures recommend you to let your engine idle for about 1-3 minutes before shutting it off. If the turbo is still spinning more then it would at idle, it will still produce a lot of heat and can cook the oil used to lubricate and cool the turbo.
