The fourth generation Honda Civic was produced from 1988 - 1991, it was redesigned with a larger wheel base (98.4 inches) and a lower hood line with more glass, providing less drag.  All US models were featured with fuel injection while carbureted models were available in other markets, the car also saw the introduction of the long running non turbo D series engine.

The Honda Civic DX hatchback, sedan, LX sedan, and the american market wagon used a 1500 cc 16 - valve fuel injected engine with 92 hp.  The Civic Si and the 4-wheel drive wagons used a non turbo 1.6 L 16-valve engine.  All the Civic fourth generation designs had a double-wishbone suspension design in the front and a multi-link trailing arm suspension design in the rear.  The Civic 4-wheel drive wagons came with standard steel wheels, while white steel wheels with matching center caps were optional, they also had a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic (the 6-speed manual had a super-low gear left of first).  The Civic sedan also had the option of 4-wheel drive in some markets.

In 1990 the Honda Civic had a small design change.  Some changes included the new front bumper design, the two screws on the outside of the front corner lights were removed, the cluster cover shape design over the gauges were changed slightly, the tail light units were redesigned, and then some of the US Civic models had automatic seat belts built in (some with automatic shoulder straps others with both automatic shoulder and lap belts).

With a Turbo installed in your Civic, you can see an increase in performance from the turbo with the use of your exhaust. A Turbo will increase the HP on your engine without robbing any energy. The Turbo will provide the extra performance gradually to your Civic, instead of right away, which is an advantage to light weight vehicles. A Turbo has to be operated properly though, you can find more on "General Info on Turbocharger (Turbo) Operation" in another article on our website, to prevent damage to your engine and turbo.
