The Nissan 240SX second generation was produced from 1995-1998 and can be split into two models, the Zenki and the Kouki. The 240SX was redesigned using the S14 Silvia body style (1994) and the hatchback/convertible body styles were eliminated leaving only the coupe. The wheel base of the car increased by 2 inches, the width of the track was increased, while the overall length of the car was shorter then the S13 model. The pop-up headlights were replaced by the fixed lamps and dual air bags were added, the chasis was changed to increase frame stiffness (though only slightly), and a longer wheelbase was added with higher rear strut mounts.
The 240SX (Zenki) S14b model was the base model of the second generation and was produced from 1995-1996. The 240SX S14b base model had 4 lug 15-inch wheels, a softer suspension, but no sway bar or remote opening lever for the trunk. The upper models, SE and LE, came with 5 lug 16-inch wheels, and a stiffer suspension with a rear sway bar (unlike the base model). The LE was an upgraded model of the SE, it was equipped with leather seats, a keyless entry, a CD player, and an anti-theft system. The SE model had optional anti-lock brakes and a viscous limited-slip differential.
The 240SX (Kouki) S14a model was produced from 1997-1998. Changes from the S14b model was mostly updated bodywork, which included aggressive projector headlights, a new front bumper/hood/fenders, and a revised traillight and center panel. On the 240SX SE and LE models, side skirts became standard, however in 1998 production of the 240SX ended with no further variations of the S platform released in America.
